Alix Miller
Alix entered the coaching profession from a career in education. Her work as a coach rests on a solid base of 27 years as an educator—first as an elementary teacher, then as a specialist at the Virginia Department of Education, and finally as an educational consultant designing and conducting training workshops for teachers and parents.
Alix holds a masters degree in education from the University of Richmond and an undergraduate degree from Hollins University that combined psychology and education for an interdisciplinary major. Alix started her educational consulting business in 1993 and her first book, on guiding and encouraging reading in children, was published in 2000.
Alix made the exciting leap to the field of coaching in 2004 and launched her current company, Avancer Coaching. Throughout her work life, Alix has used her personal and professional skills to foster insight, new learning, skill building, and excellence in others – attributes that she brings today to her work as a coach. In addition, Alix offers the experience of a 29-year marriage and the joys and challenges of raising two children, both now in college.
Alix’s coach training was through The Coaches Training Institute, where she earned the credential of CPCC. She is also certified by the International Coach Federation.
